Rosa Rabesca was born in Yellowknife and her family moved to Behchokö in the 1950’s where she has lived ever since. She married her late husband, Eddie Paul Rabesca and together they had seven children who have blessed her with many, many grandchildren.
Rosa Rabesca started sewing when she was 12 years old after she finished her chores around her home. Rosa would then continue sewing for the rest of the day.
She taught herself many things by just looking at the work of elders. Her mother also showed her how to tan hides, to sew in certain ways, with beads or quills, making jackets, vests or moccasins. Rosa loves to sew and it shows in the quality and variety of her work.
