Do you have information to share re Missing Children & Unmarked Burials associated with St. Joseph's Residential School in Fort Resolution?

Background:

In 2022, Deninu Kue First Nation (DKFN) began an investigation into the "Missing Children And Unmarked Burials" associated with the St. Joseph Indian/Residential School located in Fort Resolution that operated until 1957. Students who attended St. Joseph's came from communities across the Northwest Territories. These communities and related extended families are in the process of being identified through the compilation of names taken from St. Joseph's quarterly reports, Roman Catholic Church records, and, of course, additional "Indian Affairs" correspondence, among other sources.

With the intent of honouring loved ones and uncovering the truth, DKFN is inviting people who attended the school, or whose relatives attended the school, to contact Linda Vanden Berg ([email protected] / +1-250-656-1050) or Jennifer Robinson (1-250-818-9310) to arrange an interview either in person, by Zoom, or by telephone. (Honoraria, travel where applicable, provided).

What information are we looking for?

  • Information related to missing children/relatives who attended St. Joseph's, or children who passed away while attending St. Joseph's, along with circumstances at St. Joseph's IRS which could have contributed to their passing.
