The Department of Healing & Community Wellness in collaboration with the Tłı̨chǫ Friendship Centre is pleased to offer youth ages 8-12

DRUMMING LESSONS & HANDGAMES PRACTICE - YOUTH AGES 8-12

Tłı̨chǫ Youth are invited to explore the traditions of handgames and drumming, and discover their deep connection to Tłı̨chǫ culture through practice, rhythm, and play.

  • Time: 5:00-9:00p.m.
  • When: Every Thursday - April 17 to May 8
  • Where: Tłı̨chǫ Friendship Centre
  • Community: Behchokǫ̀

Focusing on established rules and customs that have been passed down from generation to generation.

  • Learning the correct performance for prayer songs, taking part in community drum dances, feeding of the fire, and traditionally managing the drums during handgames and drumming performances and, to share stories.
  • To keep the DRUMBEAT going and COMMUNITY dancing and RESPECT for one another.

Guided by an elder, alongside a lead drummer and a handgame player.
