In early April 2025, ten Tłı̨chǫ youth from Chief Jimmy Bruneau School journeyed to Vancouver to participate in Indspire’s Soaring: Indigenous Youth Empowerment Gathering 2025, held at Canada Place on April 8–9. This national event brought together Indigenous high school students from across Canada to explore post-secondary education and career opportunities through engaging workshops, informative panels, and networking with top employers. https://indspire.ca/events/soaring/
The trip was made possible through the support of the Department of Healing and Community Wellness, which accompanied the youth and helped prepare them for this transformative experience. Participants learned about financial aid options, connected with Indigenous role models, and gained insights into various career paths.
Beyond the event, the opportunity to travel and experience Vancouver offered students a broader perspective, fostering growth and inspiring new experiences. Exposure to different environments and communities can be a powerful motivator, encouraging youth to envision possibilities beyond their immediate surroundings.
Watch for more upcoming youth programs and initiatives offered throughout the year by the Department of Healing & Community Wellness, which continues to seek to empower young people and support them on their path toward bright and successful futures.
