A message from the Tlicho Community Services Agency.
In response to the COVID-19 global pandemic the Chief Public Health Officer of the Northwest Territories has issued an order under the Public Health Act advising the cancellation of all public gatherings regardless of the size or if it is outside or inside.
This means all events including festivals, hand games, religious or church services including weddings and funerals, recreational centres, youth centres, bingos, and community centres are all advised to close.
The reason for these cancellations is to support social distancing, that is, limiting contact with other people by staying away a distance of 2 metres or 6 feet. This will help to lower the risk of catching the virus. Gatherings where people cannot keep 2 metres away from each other are a major way the virus can spread. Staying 2 metres away from others is one of the best ways
If you are not sure if you should cancel your event you can contact by email [email protected] who can answer questions for you.
You are advised to not go to any event or gathering that has not been cancelled.
Thank you for your help in keeping your communities safe.
