We're Hiring: Senior Project Officer - Whatì

OUTLINE OF POSITION:

The Senior Project Officer plans and manages the implementation of assigned capital and operational maintenance (O&M) projects for Tłı̨chǫ Government infrastructure; responsible for delivering small to large capital and O&M projects, and consults with various stakeholders on project designs, oversees energy-related projects, and ensures compliance with regulatory authorities. The position engages with community organizations, ensures local and northern project involvement and manages project budgets.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering or Bachelor of Science in Architecture with 2-years project management and several years of related experience.
  • Experience in project management process in a northern environment, including project planning, scheduling, budgeting, financial control, contracting, supervision of professional consultants and contractors, and inspections.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, LEED Certification and knowledge of Hazardous Materials and the regulations are preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and negotiation skills are essential for managing complex projects and dealing with stakeholders, consultants, and contractors.
  • Strong time management and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a high-stress, multi-tasking environment with tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in CAD, word processing, spreadsheets, project management and financial management systems.
  • High degree of tact, diplomacy, and experience working in a cross-cultural environment.
  • Familiarity with the Tłı̨chǫ language, culture and way of life is preferred.
  • Class 5 driver’s license.
