People from the Tłįchǫ region gathered in Gamètì to celebrating the 11th Tłįchǫ Annual Gathering 11th Session of the 3rd Tłįchǫ Assembly from July 7 to 9, 2015.
“The Annual Gathering is a time to be together as the Tłįchǫ Nation and to celebrate who we are as Tłįchǫ people, visiting and listening to one another, attending feasts, drum dances sharing food, and participating in traditional hand games.” stated Grand Chief Eddie Erasmus.
The Community of Gameti was proud to be the host community to the Chiefs, Assembly Members, Delegations and visitors to the Annual Gathering. Chief David Wedawin of Gameti also stated that in the “10th anniversary year of the Tłįchǫ Government, a time to remember and reaffirm the Tłįchǫ Government responsibility toward the existence of vibrant, active and democratic local government in our Tłįchǫ Communities, as well as safeguarding and strengthening the principals and culture of the Tłįchǫ Citizens for the future.
The Community of Wekweeti will host 12th Tłįchǫ Annual Gathering, from July 5 – 8, 2016.
The Tłįchǫ Government will be celebrating the 10th year anniversary of the Tłįchǫ Agreement in Behchoko from August 5 to 9, 2015.
