TŁĮCHǪ TRADES APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM KICKS OFF

Behchokǫ̀, NT (Wednesday, September 13, 2022) - The Tłı̨chǫ Government Department of Client Services has received funding for an Apprenticeship program. The Tłı̨chǫ Trades Apprenticeship Program is a program seeking to build industry partnerships to hire 30 first-year Tłı̨chǫ Apprentices in 39 Red Seal Trades.

The Tłı̨chǫ Government will work with employers in the skilled trades to support them in the hiring, onboarding, and retaining of first year Tłı̨chǫ apprentices. The program aims to provide financial incentives and assistance to employers as they hire first-year Tłı̨chǫ apprentices; and to engage employers and provide them with the required support to create inclusive workplaces that ensure the success of Tłı̨chǫ apprentices.

Over the next two years the program will seek to:

  • Build partnerships with trades employers
  • Provide financial incentives for employers to recruit and hire Tłı̨chǫ

Apprentices in 39 Red seal trades including:

  • Carpenter
  • Glazier
  • Drywall Finisher and Plasterer
  • Gasfitter – Class A and B
  • Heavy Equipment Operator
  • Construction and Industrial Electrician o Sheet Metal Worker
  • Boilermaker
  • Insulator
  • Welder

... And more

  • Provide supports to employers to ensure the success of Tłı̨chǫ apprentices.
