On June 4th, senior managers from the Tlicho Government came together in Yellowknife for the 1st session of a Management Development program facilitated by Dr. Nancy Gibson, Professor Emeritus of the University of Alberta and a senior researcher at CIET. The major theme of this session was Integrating Tłı̨chǫ Culture and Professional Management practices.
The managers including Community Directors Shirley Beaverho from Whati, Janita Etsemba from Behchoko, Adeline Football from Wekweeti, and Jennifer Wetrade from Gameti joined Kerri Garner, Cecilia Rabesca, Nancy Rabesca, Louise Richardson, Celine Zoe and Anita Daniels from the main Tlicho Government office in Behchoko. Guest presenters included Dr. John B. Zoe, Jim Martin and Chris McCaffrey from Outcrop Communications in Yellowknife.
The outcomes for the Tłı̨chǫ Government Management Development Program are to build increased confidence in their leadership, develop a deeper understanding of professional relationships with co-workers in small communities and a stronger sense of becoming a management team, while learning more about the Tłı̨cho Government, and of specific management tools to improve their work.
The next Management Development session is scheduled for September 2013.
