OUTLINE OF POSITION:

The Asset Manager acts as the strategic leader for infrastructure management and implementation initiatives, leading, coordinating, and supporting the implementation of Tłı̨chǫ Government infrastructure projects, supports infrastructure by providing technical expertise, innovative strategies, assisting with developing capital programs and budgets, providing project management support, contract services, effective asset management, developing and implementing asset management strategies, ensure sustainability and optimal performance of infrastructure assets, utilizing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to manage and analyze data for all assets, enhancing decision-making and planning processes, project management, contract support, and cold-climate construction advice to Headquarters, regional senior staff, and community governments, and must follow all Tłı̨chǫ Government Administrative, Policies and Procedures, and Tłı̨chǫ Agreement.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Designation as professional engineer/technologist/urban planner/asset manager in civil engineering or a related field.
  • Expert knowledge of project management, infrastructure planning theory, and principles for cold climate conditions with a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of urban planning, strategic planning and policy development.
  • 2 years professional experience in senior supervisory or management position.
  • A capacity for Engineering Systems Thinking (CEST) and analytical skills for evaluating project results and initiating corrective actions.
  • Understanding of Canadian contract law and tendering/procurement methodologies.
  • Solid skills in general, human resources and financial management.
  • Proficiency in computer applications for word processing, spreadsheets, databases, project management, email, and electronic presentations
  • Experience and an ability to work in a cross-cultural environment.
  • The ability to speak and understand Tłı̨chǫ Yatıì is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Tłı̨chǫ language, culture and way of life.
  • Class 5 driver’s license.
