Due to warm weather causing overflows and degradation of portages, the Tłı̨chǫ winter road system will CLOSE for the Season tomorrow April 12th at 10:00 am.
Currently the Tłı̨chǫ Winter Road system is restricted to NIGHT TRAVEL ONLY. No traffic is permitted on the winter road from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm.
The entire winter road system is restricted to high clearance vehicles only.
The Whatì Winter Road is open to 36,000 Kilograms Gross Vehicle Weight.
- Watch for sections of ponding water and overflow on Marian Lake, Rat Lake and various portages.
The Tłı̨chǫ winter road to Gamètì is open to 20,000 Kilograms Gross Vehicle Weight.
- Watch for exposed rock, rough sections and overflow on entrances to portages.
The Wekweètı Winter Road is open to 15,000 kilograms Gross Vehicle Weight.
- Please watch and slow down for rough ice on the approach to Indin Lake.
- Watch for overflow on lakes throughout the winter road and exposed rocks along the alignment.
