Applications are now available for the 2023 Trails of our Ancestors Canoe Trip.
The annual canoe trip is a great opportunity for people to spend time on the land while learning about Tłı̨chǫ Language, Culture, and Way of Life.
Paddlers will travel the routes used by Tłı̨chǫ Ancestors for thousands of years. The trip is a great way to connect with your past and learn cultural knowledge that you too can pass on in the future.

Important dates:
- The deadline to apply is May 29th, 2023.
- Wekweètı̀ trip is leaving June 25th. All other community trips leaving June 29th.
- All trips will arrive in Gamètı̀ on July 9th for the Annual Gathering.

Out of respect for the land and the safety of all people on the trip, this program has a zero-tolerance policy for drug and alcohol use.
You must be 19 or older to apply for the trip, however as an adult, you can apply as a team with a person under 19. You will be responsible for the safety and well-being of that person on the trip.
If you are selected for the trip, you will need to attend 3 safety and planning events before the trip leaves.
You can apply as a Paddler, or if you have experience, you can apply as a K’àowo, Crew Boss or Safety Staff.
The program can support 10 boats (60 people) from Behchokǫ̀, 5 boats (30 people) from Whatı̀, 3 boats (18 people) from Gamètı̀ and 3 boats (18 people) from Wekweètı̀ to participate on the trip.
A mix of experienced paddlers and first-timers will be selected in early June.
Charter flights will be available for paddlers at the end of the Annual Gathering.
