Behchokǫ̀, NT (June 12, 2018) Chiefs Executive Council of the Tłı̨chǫ Government have expressed their pleasure at the graduation of three Tłı̨chǫ citizens, and staff of the Tłı̨chǫ Government and the Tłı̨chǫ Community Services Agency from the University of Victoria. Tammy Steinwand-Dechambeault, Rosa Mantla, and Nora Wedzin of Behchokǫ̀ NT graduated with Master of Education degrees in Indigenous Language Revitalization from the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
Knowledge in the field of indigenous language revitalization plays a critical role in the program work of both the Tłı̨chǫ Government and the Tłı̨chǫ Community Services Agency.
Tammy Steinwand-Dechambeault is a former teacher, language and culture consultant and is now the Director of the Department of Culture and Lands Protection in the Tłı̨chǫ Government and responsible for directing the work of protecting and promoting Tłı̨chǫ lands, language, culture and way of life. Rosa Mantla is a former teacher and now Language and Culture Consultant with the Agency supporting the work of the Tłı̨chǫ language programs in the schools, and Nora Wedzin is a social worker and former Culture Coordinator under the Intergovernmental Services Agreement.
