Behchokǫ̀, Northwest Territories, September 10, 2018 — Modern public infrastructure is key to supporting the unique needs of northern communities. Investing in social infrastructure helps bring communities together, transfer skills and experience, identify new opportunities and open doors to a better quality of life for families living and working in the North.
Today, Michael McLeod, Member of Parliament for the Northwest Territories, on behalf of the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities; the Honourable Alfred Moses, Minister of Municipal and Community Affairs, Government of the Northwest Territories; and Clifford Daniels, Chief of the Community Government of Behchokǫ̀, attended the grand opening of the community’s new water and sewer truck garage.
This project involved the addition of a six-bay garage next to the existing four-bay garage as an extension to the public works buildings of Behchokǫ̀. This new structure will be used to properly secure and maintain the fleet of vehicles needed to distribute clean water and to ensure continued efficient wastewater management for the residents of Behchokǫ̀. These upgrades are essential to keeping our waterways clean and our communities healthy and livable.
