Minister Anandasangaree visits Behchokǫ̀ Chief Jimmy Bruneau Regional High School – November 14, 2024.
Behchokǫ̀ NT, Thursday, November 14, 2024 – Minister Anandasangaree visited Chief Jimmy Bruneau Regional High School during his visit to Behchokǫ̀, NT for the PFP celebrations. After his earlier visit to Behchokǫ̀ in March 2024 and hearing from leaders about the need for a new school to be built, he made it a priority on this visit to go to the school.
During his visit, the Minister toured the school and interacted with Grade 6 students, discussing the importance of governance and his start in politics. He also joined the grade 7 physical education class by participating in traditional games alongside Grand Chief Jackson Lafferty and Behchokǫ̀ Chief Clifford Daniels.
The visit included playing handgames, a cherished traditional event, and culminated with the Minister enjoying delicious Bannock at the school cabin with the elders, showcasing the warmth of local traditions.
Minister Anandasangaree expressed his appreciation for the vibrant community spirit and the importance of education and including youth in governance. The Minister reiterated his support for a new Behchokǫ̀ School rooted in Tłı̨chǫ culture, language and way of life.
