2023 Community Harvesters Assistance Program

The Community Harvesters Assistance Program (CHAP) has now launched for another year. The program will run through March 31st, 2023 and include a total of $150,000 in funding for Tłı̨chǫ harvesters in the following communities:

  • Behchokǫ̀ - $50,000
  • Whatı̀ - $30,000
  • Gamètı̀ - $20,000
  • Wekweètı̀ - $20,000
  • Yellowknife - $30,000

CHAP funds are intended for both community hunt charters (Bluenose East Tags), and individual harvest use, and provide eligible harvesters with a maximum limit of $350/ per applicant for gas.

All hunters are expected to report details of their harvest, including:  

  1. Hunt location
  2. Harvested animal count
  3. Age, class, and sex of harvested animals
  4. Meat distribution in the community
