TCSA COVID 19 and School Closures

A message from the Tlicho Community Services Agency. 

The TCSA continues to take proactive steps to address the COVID-19 pandemic in the NWT.

Due to the significant health concerns posed by this virus and the importance of social distancing as a ways of keeping children, families, and communities safe, the TCSA Board has agreed with the recommendation from Minister of Education, R.J. Simpson, that schools be closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.

Cancellation of public gatherings

A message from the Tlicho Community Services Agency.

In response to the COVID-19 global pandemic the Chief Public Health Officer of the Northwest Territories has issued an order under the Public Health Act advising the cancellation of all public gatherings regardless of the size or if it is outside or inside.

This means all events including festivals, hand games, religious or church services including weddings and funerals, recreational centres, youth centres, bingos, and community centres are all advised to close.

TCSA Travel Outside of the Northwest Territories

In response to the COVID-19 global pandemic the Chief Public Health Officer of the Northwest Territories has issued an order under the Public Health Act directing all residents returning to the Northwest Terriroties in the last 14 days to self-isolate and complete a self-isolation plan. This means if you are returning to the Northwest Territories by either air or road you must self-isolate in Yellowknife, Hay River, Fort Smith, or Inuvik.

TCSA Personal Protective Equipment and Public Use

In response to the COVID-19 Global Pandemic the TCSA has been working closely with the GNWT, and distributers to ensure that we continue to have enough protective equipment for our staff to be able to continue to provide safe services to our Tlicho Communities.
Since the announcement on Saturday of a COVID-19 case in the Northwest Territories our health centres have received multiple phone calls from community members requesting masks and other protective equipment from the health centre.
