A Trauma-Informed Workshop occurred in Behchokǫ̀ community from September 10 to 12, 2024.
This workshop provided essential knowledge and practical tools for delivering trauma-informed care.
Its goal was to enhance participants' understanding of trauma, its effects, and how they can apply trauma-informed principles in both professional and personal contexts.
The workshop covered various topics, such as understanding trauma, creating a safe environment, trauma-informed care strategies, de-escalation techniques, and self-care for practitioners.
This workshop formed part of the Justice & Victim Services Division's action item to develop training programs, including specialized trauma care, grief counselling, and mental health crisis interventions.
The event was made possible with funding and support from Canada's Family Violence Prevention Fund, in partnership with the Justice and Victim Services Division of the Client Services Department, who organized and facilitated the workshop.
