Tłı̨chǫ Chiefs Executive Council Works Together With NWT Governments on Important Issues at NWT Council of Leaders
On September 4 and 5, 2024, the Tłı̨chǫ Government Chiefs Executive Council participated in the Northwest Territories Council of Leaders meeting in Yellowknife, NT. Tłı̨chǫ Grand Chief Jackson Lafferty chaired the meeting of Indigenous leaders from across the NWT and leaders of the Government of the Northwest Territories. Tłı̨chǫ leaders discussed key issues such as mental health and addictions, infrastructure, the economy, emergency management, and climate change. The NWT Council of Leaders meets annually to support collaboration between the GNWT and Indigenous governments and organizations. This is an important forum to discuss territory-wide social and economic issues and work together to find solutions.
