To provide an opportunity to discuss community wellness, the Department of Healing and Community Wellness will visit each community at the beginning of the new year and hold engagement sessions with Tłı̨chǫ members.
The importance of strengthening wellness programs in the community has come to light more often in recent years. Enhancing clinical capacity and access to mental health care can be achieved through increased collaboration, which includes building relationships with other agencies and territorial health organizations. The Department of Healing and Community Wellness can better develop the plans and policies that enable the community to respond to and support these needs in our Tłı̨chǫ communities by listening to and learning from the shared experiences of those most affected.
For the purpose of gathering feedback, ideas, and direction for developing a new vision for the community on these issues going forward, the upcoming engagement sessions aim to invite community members to participate in the traditional sharing circles for discussions and reflections on the effectiveness of current programs for addiction and mental health.
"A child's care requires an entire village. By sharing and working together, we become the village"
We are pleased to meet collectively and talk about these critical issues affecting our Tłı̨chǫ communities, and we look forward to working together in the next year to improve our members' well-being.
