The Tłı̨chǫ On Land Healing Program 2023

Holistic Approach:

The Tłı̨cho On Land Healing Program is well designed to provide an ongoing support system, and personal growth through a holistic approach, traditional events, cultural practice, harvesting, survival skills, and storytelling with the support of our elders.  Teachings will regain self-respect, self-confidence, self-reliance and self-determination to achieve the goal to be strong like two people.  The program will be in a safe environment and secure place to begin their journey in life.  The land is connected to our soul, mind, our heart and a path to personal growth.  It is important of facilitating modern Land-based programs and activities for integrated health, education, and environmental outcomes. This valid form of integrative practice, centered in Indigenous pedagogy and wisdom, recognizes that people are intimately interwoven and connected with their traditional lands and that directly cultivating this fundamental relationship can shape and influence all areas of interaction with society, including our health and wellness.  It is recognized that the Land practice is as important part of individual and community resilience in the face of rapid colonial change and its subsequent challenges.

Many people get help by seeking counseling or therapy for a variety of reasons.  When problems arise in the current-day relationship or problems that have become bigger than what the person feels they can handle.  Especially, our people are impacted by the epidemic related to coronavirus, and many people around the globe are also impacted.  However, they tried everything they know, talked to friends, and family members, and still come up with no conclusion on how to deal with life on the land.  They will continue to search for help and seek a way to try to make it work for their recovery healing process.

Strong Like Two Healing:

This “Strong Like Two Healing” based on a modern medical and Holistic Approach of Healing makes on the land healing program is so unique.  We explore the rites of passage to understand our way of life (culture) and incorporate a balanced way of living in a contemporary way of living (modern).  Our focus on addressing the underlying core issues which lead to substance abuse and mood disorders is unprecedented. It is through our Tłı̨cho Language, culture, and way of life that define what spirituality is about.  It’s part of celebrating when a baby is born and when there is death.  We pray together as a family, in a group, at school, at meetings, and when we go on the land.  Our Spiritual life is with us throughout our physical and spiritual world.  We seek the path to enlighten, integrity, endurance, love, and forgiveness to honor our wellbeing.  We will eventually come to know how to live in a true connection with the divine to discover our true purpose in life as Tłı̨cho in modern society.  This valid form of integrative practice, centered in Indigenous pedagogy and wisdom, recognizes that people are intimately interwoven and connected with their traditional lands and that directly cultivating this fundamental relationship can shape and influence all areas of interaction with society, including our health and wellness.  It is recognized that Land practice is an important part of individual and community resilience in the face of rapid colonial change and its subsequent challenges.
