Tłı̨chǫ Government Attend the Intergovernmental Leaders' Forum
On Monday, May 8, 2023 in Ottawa, ON, the Chiefs Executive Council, represented by Grand Chief Jackson Lafferty, met with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Minister Marc Miller, Minister Patti Hajdu, Minister Dan Vandal, Minister David Lametti, and Minister Carolyn Bennett.
Items discussed with Canada included:
- Indigenous mental health and addictions including the opioid crisis
- Implementation of modern treaty and self-government agreements
- United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act Action Plan
- Action and strategies to improve the well-being of our people and communities
The meeting was the 4th of the Intergovernmental Leaders’ Forum (formerly called the Prime Minister’s Forum) and included Indigenous leaders from Modern Treaty holders and Self-Governing Indigenous Governments across Canada.
Tłı̨chǫ Government will continue working with Canada towards full implementation of the Tłı̨chǫ Agreement and advocating for our people and communities.
