International Women's Day 2023

On March 8, 2023, women and men all over the world mark International Women's Day – a day to celebrate and honour women who have overcome obstacles, worked to create better family and work environments, as well as lead entire communities and nations. These inspiring women are the steady hand at the wheel of change and demonstrate sound decision-making every day.

By acknowledging International Women’s Day, we work together to show respect for each other and create stronger communities; and a stronger future for ourselves and future generations.

The Tłı̨chǫ communities include many motivated women leaders, including Chiefs, TEO, grandmas, mothers, sisters, daughters, cousins, aunties, colleagues, neighbours, and friends. We celebrate their accomplishments and the many positive contributions resulting from their efforts - often with little recognition.

Two of the inspiring Tlicho women leaders we would like to acknowledge and celebrate on International Women’s Day include Chief Adeline Football, Wekweètì, and Chief Doreen Arrowmaker, Gamètı̀.

Here are some interesting quotes about Leadership:

“If you want to change the world, start with yourself” – Oprah Winfrey

"Leadership is not about authority, but about influence." - John Maxwell

“The best leaders are those who create a vision and communicate it clearly." - Peter Drucker

“You don’t have to be perfect to inspire others. You just have to show them that they can do it too.” - Unknown.
