Grand Chief Jackson Lafferty, Chief Clifford Daniels and Chief Adeline Football met yesterday, April 13, 2022,  with Federal Minister Vandal (Minister responsible for the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency and Minister of Northern Affairs) and Member of Parliament Michael McLeod.  Topics of discussion included: Tłı̨chǫ highways, Behchokǫ̀ water, Indigenous Workforce Development, Whatì transmission line and Rayrock.  It was a productive meeting and reinforced the commitment of Canada and the Tłı̨chǫ to work together to improve conditions and create future opportunities for Tłı̨chǫ people.

Grand Chief stated: “Our relationship with our Treaty partner, Canada, is an ongoing relationship, built on the foundation of our 1921 treaty and the modern claim agreement of the Tłı̨chǫ Agreement. Canada is showing us that they are committed to moving forward on a path to reconciliation, and we will continue to work closely to guide how that work will ensure recognition of our rights and a strong future for Tłı̨chǫ citizens.”
