Tłı̨chǫ Community Services Agency Public Notice

Feb 1, 2022

To: Parents/ Guardians, Staff, and Students

The TCSA, in consultation with the OCPHO is reopening MCS - Whati, JWGS -Gameti, and AASWekweeti to in person learning as planned on Monday February 7, 2022. This decision is in part to declining COVID cases in these communities, and well as strong safety protocols established in schools.

The Tlicho Community Services Board has passed a motion to continue remote learning in Behchoko schools until Friday February 11, 2022. CJBS and EMES will continue with remote learning including daily online classes and at home assignments. We are planning to reopen to in person learning in Behchoko, Monday February 14, 2022.

Under guidance from the OCPHO, TCSA's approach will be keep students in person wherever possible. National data continues to show that children remain at low risk of severe symptoms of COVID-19 especially when vaccinated. However, children are experiencing the impacts of school closures as it relates to academics, social interactions and connections, as well as accessibility to other services that our schools provide.

The TCSA board recognizes the significant impact that COVID has on families as well as in students' academic, social, and emotional growth. TCSA schools have strategies to help students recover reading, writing, and mathematical skills that often declined during remote learning. However, students learn.

best in person so we ask that you ensure your child is aware and follows the safety protocols that help
keep us safe.

A reminder that counselling and mental health supports are available free of charge to families and students. Please contact your school principal or follow us on Facebook for more information.

As always if you have questions, or would like to know more about the safety protocols in schools please connect with your school principal.

Masi,
Linsey Hope - TCSA Director of Education
