To celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Mǫwhì signing Treaty 11 this summer 2021, there will be culture and arts festivals in all four Tłı̨chǫ communities. We need a name and festival logo/design for our festivals that honours the legacy of Mǫwhì and the promotes Tłı̨chǫ culture, art and music. Your design could continue to be used as we hope festivals become an annual event in each community.
Festivals, such as Open Sky Festival in the Dehcho and Hay Days Festival in Hay River, bring people together to celebrate and participate in the arts and heritage by attending music and cultural performances, viewing contemporary and traditional artworks and attending workshops.
What name (and logo) would you give to a Tłı̨chǫ festival? Is there a word or phrase in Tlı̨chǫ that would fit? For example, the Adaka Cultural Festival in the Yukon, uses the word ‘adaka’ which means ‘coming into the light.’
