The CPHO announced that schools in Yellowknife, Dettah, Ndilǫ and Behchokǫ̀ can re-open on Monday, May 17.
The safety of students and staff are the top priority in re-opening schools. Safety measures currently in place such as increased cleaning of high touch areas, classroom bubbles, masking in common spaces, etc., will continue and be adhered to strictly.
Additional safety measures are now required for schools to reopen in Yellowknife, Dettah, Ndilo and Behchoko and will be in place until the end of the 2020-2021 school year. Those requirements are being communicated directly to parents and guardians of students at those schools.
IMPORTANT: Any confirmed COVID-19 positive individual, and those who are members of the same household with a COVID-19 positive individual, must complete the full mandatory isolation period before returning to school. These affected households will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Each household will receive specific instructions from Public Health that will outline when their isolation is complete and are able to return to school.
