UPDATE ON EXPLORATION IN THE TŁĮCHǪ REGION IN AUGUST

The Tłı̨chǫ Government has met with two exploration firms that will be working in our region in August. The Tłı̨chǫ Government has reviewed the plans of the companies and has approved them, as well as welcomed their exploration activity into our region. There will be no contact with Tłı̨chǫ people. As a result, our people will not be at risk of contracting COVID-19. One company will have staff there only from Yellowknife while another will have 2 staff isolating from the south, and the rest from Yellowknife.

We want to let you know about this exploration because their helicopters will be flying through the area very soon, before our next meeting.

Fortune Minerals is exploring at their site. They have contracted a Yellowknife company – Aurora Geoscience - to implement the program. The program could last up to 14 days and will start during on August 27th. There will be two Fortune Minerals employees in place to support the five geophysical contractors that will be undertaking the work.

Rover Metals will be drilling six holes in the Cabin Lake area, over a period of 20 days (exploring for gold) and they will be confirming drilling. They will not be storing any fuel on site-they will bring fuel to the site daily. The company will be running helicopter support out of Yellowknife, and there will be no contact with Behchoko. All staff are from Yellowknife, so there will be no people from the south.  Pending the successful exploration results, the decision may be made to go to advanced exploration. Information will arrive on our desks in two days about this plan.
