Videos released documenting Tłı̨chǫ culture and heritage

Since 2018, the Department of Culture and Lands Protection have been working with community Elders and film makers to document how various ‘old style’ tools and clothing are made.  Many of these items are rarely made these days and this project is an effort to preserve information about how these tools and clothes were made long ago and how they can still be made today.

Watching these amazing Elders at work, we are reminded of the incredible skills and deep cultural knowledge our Elders have.  It is a reminder to all of us that our Elders are living libraries of knowledge who we can turn to for help and advice when learning about our Language, Culture and Way of life.

Many thanks to Elders and staff who made this project a success and to the Government of Canada’s Museum Assistance Program for its important financial support.
