Hotıì ts’eeda: A new health research organization for the NWT
The Tłı̨chǫ Government is proud to be the official host of Hotıì ts’eeda, a new organization dedicated to supporting health research in the Northwest Territories. The Governing Council is chaired by the Tłı̨chǫ Government’s John B. Zoe, Senior Advisor and includes members from Indigenous organizations across the NWT.

The vision of Hotıì ts’eeda is to support health research and training that is rooted in Dene Naowo, Inuvialuit and Metis knowledge and responds to the needs of individuals and communities. By fostering connections between researchers and communities, building capacity and contributing to a more culturally competent health system, Hotıì ts’eeda hopes to ultimately improve health for NWT residents.

Hotıì ts’eeda works with communities and individuals to identify research needs and connect them to researchers and funders, support cultural competency training for researchers, and work with decision-makers and health professionals to ensure that research is used to help make better health-related decisions.

Hotıì ts’eeda already supports research taking place in the Tłı̨chǫ region, such as the Boots on the Ground Caribou Monitoring Project.

The organization is part of the Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
