IPAC-NWT is delighted to congratulate our very own Laura Duncan on her recent appointment to the 2016-2017 IPAC National Board of Directors. A senior executive officer with the Tłįchǫ Government, Laura joined the NWT Chapter of IPAC in 2015. Her knowledge and expertise were of immediate and immeasurable value to our chapter, and we are thrilled that IPAC National will now have the opportunity to benefit from her advice as well. Laura’s northern career began with a position as Band Manager in Whati. She later joined the team facilitating the transition from independent local Band Councils under the Indian Act of Canada to post-land-claim Tłįchǫ community governments. Today, Laura works closely with the Chief’s Executive Council on the implementation of Tłįchǫ laws and the development and execution of the government’s strategic plan. As a member of IPAC-NWT, she served on the steering committee for the highly successful 2016 Northern Governance Conference, which focused on Indigenous and northern government. Congratulations, Laura – IPAC National couldn’t have chosen a better voice from the NWT! Learn more about about IPAC Nation and IPAC NWT Regional Group. |
