Tlicho Winter Road - UPDATE

Over the past week the conditions on the Tlicho Winter Road system have been deteriorating quickly.  We are seeing more and more overflow on Marian Lake as well as Rabbit Lake on the Gameti Road, and a pond south of Basler Lake on the Wekweètì Winter Road.  Portages south of Rat Lake on the Whatì Winter Road are deteriorating rapidly.  Highway Maintenance crews are addressing various overflow areas daily on Marian Lake.

Community Re-supply to Whatì, Gameti and Wekweètì should be complete in a few more days.

It is anticipated that the Tlicho Winter Road my close for the season with very little notice.

  • The Gameti Winter Road is open to 30,000 Kilograms Gross Vehicle Weight.
  • The Whatì Winter Road is open to 30,000 kilograms Gross Vehicle Weight.
  • The Wekweètì Winter Road is open to 20,000 kilograms.

Please watch for equipment working as well as commercial vehicles conducting resupply operations.
