Tlicho Winter Roads - 48 Hours Notice of Closure
Please be advised the Tlicho Winter Road system may Close for the Season within 48 hours.
Portages on the South end of the winter road system are deteriorating rapidly.
The Winter Roads to Whatì, Wekweètì and Gameti are on Night Travel only. Vehicle traffic is only permitted from 10:00 PM until 10:00 AM.
Currently the Gameti Winter Road has a maximum load limit of 35,000 kilograms, the Whatì Winter Road has a load limit of 50,000 kilograms and the Wekweètì Winter Road is rated at 40,000 kilograms.
Please use caution as portions of the winter road can be quite slippery and rutted when temperatures are warm. Please watch for areas of overflow and slippery conditions on all lakes.
