Tłı̨chǫ Grand Chief Election Candidates
Behchokǫ̀, NT - August 8, 2013 - At 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 8th, 2013 the Nomination Meeting for the Tłı̨chǫ Government Grand Chief Election officially closed.
The Chair of the Nomination Meeting has declared Edward (Eddie) Erasmus, George Mackenzie and James Wah-Shee as candidates for Grand Chief.
The Tłı̨chǫ Nation will be going to polls in Behchokǫ̀, Whatì, Gamètì, Wekweètì and Yellowknife to elect their Grand Chief on Monday, September 16th, 2013. The position of Grand Chief is elected to serve a four-year term.
An Advance Poll will take place on August 26th, 2013. There will also be a Special Mobile Poll, Voting in the Office of the Registrar and Mail-In Ballots to accommodate eligible voters that may not be able to vote on Election Day including: students, elders, travelers, the sick and the physically disabled, incarcerated individuals, and mine or camp workers.
This is the fourth Grand Chief election for the Tłı̨chǫ Government. The candidate elected for Grand Chief will be announced after the close of polls on September 16, 2013. More information about the election can be found on the Office of the Registrar website at www.tlichoelection.com.
