OUTLINE OF POSITION:

The Custodian is responsible for performing custodial services, minor maintenances and other related duties as required, and is accountable to maintain Tłı̨chǫ Government Yellowknife Office, administrative offices, equipment and facilities and ensures they are maintained in a healthy, safe, sanitary and functional manner; maintains safe storage areas for cleaning equipment, supplies and products to ensure the safety of staff and public, reports to the Office Manager/Administrative Assistant in Yellowknife and must follow applicable Tłı̨chǫ Government Administrative Policy and Procedure.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Related work experience
  • Ability to work under little supervision
  • Good problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to read and understand cleaning chemicals and products labels and instructions
  • Knowledge of the standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, products and equipment
  • Must have Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System Certificate (with the ability to re-certify as needed)
  • Ability to use the English and Tłı̨chǫ languages is an asset
  • Familiarity with the Tłı̨chǫ language, culture and way of life

All selected Tłı̨chǫ youth participants will travel to Ottawa and join in the conference & events – one youth delegate will take part in the simulation and gain firsthand experience in implementing agreements.
