Wilderness Safety Training Program
Client Services Department held a summer session for the Wilderness Safety Training Program (WSTP) in Behchokǫ̀, NT. From May 21 to June 18, 2019.
Fifty (50) applications were received; Fourteen (14) individuals were selected to participate in the training. There were two sessions:
- Winter session held in October to December 2018, and
- Summer Session was from May 21 to June 18, 2019.
WSTP is designed and tailored to meet Tłı̨chǫ citizen needs. WSTP students will receive 12 certificates, which include the following:
- Canadian Firearms Safety Course Training. (Required to get your possession and Acquisition Licence (Formerly FAC).
- Wilderness First Aid
- Maps 1 & Maps 2, GPS Training
- Snowmobile safety and Maintenance
- Bear Safety
- Chainsaw Safety
- Ice Rescue
- Bear Guard
- Ice Rescue
- Swift Water Skills
- WFA Ice Rescue
- Health and Wellness
