Tłı̨chǫ Elders Wolf Workshop

On October 29, 2015 the DCLP-Lands organized a Wolf workshop with Elders from all Tłı̨chǫ communities. Elders agreed there is a problem with the population of wolves and that the wolves are not helping the recovery of the Barren-ground Caribou. The elders concluded that we need young Tłı̨chǫ people to harvest wolves. They stressed that it is okay to hunt wolves as long the trappers respect the traditional laws that deal with wolf carcasses.

The DCLP-Lands is working with ENR to organize workshops to train Tłı̨chǫ people how to snare a wolf, properly prepare a wolf hide and respect Tłı̨chǫ traditional laws.

More information on dates and places will be announced shortly.
