Tłįchǫ Trapping Education Program
The Tłįchǫ Trapping Education Program returned to Behchokǫ̀ after a successful two week program on the land near Whatì.
The program gave young people hands-on training in the skills and knowledge needed to be a trapper.
Participants learned about: proper planning, paying the land and water, safe winter travel, setting up a winter camp, gathering wood, making fires, setting traditional and modern traps, skinning, setting a net under the ice and more.
Most importantly, everyone worked well together, there was no complaining and everyone came home safely.
Everyone worked hard, had fun and learned a lot.
