Behchokǫ̀ NWT (May 6th, 2016) Grand Chief Eddie Erasmus of the Tłįchǫ Government has said he is disheartened by the wildfire situation in Alberta and deeply concerned for the people and their families who have lost homes, and have had to evacuate Fort McMurray, and affected surrounding communities. Wildfires are a grim reality for most northern communities and he said it is truly a situation where we recognize in our neighbour’s plight, ourselves. The Grand Chief said that in our prayers we are seeking the best for those people who have had to leave their homes and jobs,  as well as for the  health and safety of the firefighters.
