The Department of Culture and Lands Protection would like for Tłı̨chǫ harvesters to report your harvest of ekwǫ̀.
The Tłı̨chǫ Government has been working in partnership with other indigenous groups and resource managers such as ENR and WRRB to help mitigate the impacts on ekwǫ̀.
The Tłı̨chǫ people have a strong relationship with ekwǫ̀ as it plays a key role in the Tłı̨chǫ way of life. The decline of ekwǫ̀ has created significant effects to all northern people and the reasons behind the decline is complex and can’t be attributed to one single factor. One of many factors that are considered of the decline is the over harvest of ekwǫ̀.
The Tłı̨chǫ government is doing what we can to help the ekwǫ̀ populations recover and by reporting the harvest allows our harvesters to be accountable and mindful of respectfully harvesting ekwǫ̀. Do your part and report your harvest, your name will be put in a draw for a drum of gas or equivalent to.
