Public Health Advisory – December 22, 2021
Summary: Starting December 22, 2021 all residents regardless of their vaccination status, who test positive for a COVID-19 infection or are considered contacts of a positive COVID-19 infection as identified by a public health official are required, under the PHO, to isolate for 10 days unless otherwise advised by a public health official.

YELLOWKNIFE December 22, 2021 – The Chief Public Health Officer (CPHO) is announcing a Public Health Order (PHO) that will go into effect at 5:00PM today, December 22, 2021. The PHO puts the current common practices and advice of health care providers into law. The PHO also provides clarity on requirements for residents who have tested positive for a COVID-19 infection or are advised, by their health care provider or a public exposure notification, that they are a contact of a positive COVID-19 case. This PHO applies to all residents regardless of their vaccination status.
 
Any persons that test positive for a COVID-19 infection or are considered contacts of a positive COVID-19 infection as identified by a public health official are required, under the PHO, to isolate for 10 days unless otherwise advised by a public health official.
 
Any persons who are affected by a public exposure notification, published on the Government of the Northwest Territories COVID-19 website, are required to comply with the required action(s) published via the website.
 
Any persons who are showing signs or symptoms of COVID-19 are required to self-isolate and contact their local health care provider.
