NWT Community Justice Training Symposium in Yellowknife, NT
The Tłı̨chǫ Government, Client Services Department, Justice and Victim Services Team Coordinators attended the Community Justice Training Symposium on policy and protocol, in Yellowknife, from February 14-16, 2023.
Funded by the GNWT Department of Justice, and the Tłı̨chǫ Government, Client Services Department, 60 Victim Service Workers and Justice Coordinators from across the NWT attended the event as well as Facilitators, Department of Justice Workers, and others.
Two of the goals of the symposium were to facilitate relationships and networking, and encourage future collaboration between departments and agencies to help all Justice providers deliver more effective support to their clients and communities.
The Community Justice Symposium was designed and tailored to meet the Justice Coordinators/Victim Services worker’s needs. After they complete the Justice Symposium Training program, workers will receive the following certificates:
Together, the Tłı̨chǫ team learned more about effective forms of accessing aid for their clients, and more effective techniques for handling high-stress, high-conflict, and high-trauma situations. These skills will be invaluable in providing professional and supportive tools to create positive outcomes.
