Mineral Exploration North of Russell Lake Starting this week
Starting March 17, 2022, Rover Metals Corp will be doing a 4-5 week winter drilling program with a helicopter at the Cabin Lake Property.
Who is Rover Metals Corp. and what are they doing?
- Rover Metals Corp. (or “Rover”) is a junior mining exploration company that is exploring for gold in active mineral claims in the Tłı̨chǫ region.
- Rover holds mineral claims on three excluded parcels surrounded by Tłı̨chǫ Lands, including the Cabin Lake Property, near the north end of Russell Lake (These claims existed prior to the effective date of the Tłı̨chǫ Agreement).
- Rover has permission (from the WLWB and CEC) only for exploration.
- If Rover wants to build a mine in the future, they need to apply for new permits and licences, go through the environmental impact assessment process, get permission to cross Tłı̨chǫ Lands, and negotiate major mining agreements with the Tłı̨chǫ Government.
- There will be no ice-road access to the site.
