Tłı̨chǫ Government will be providing child care for children of Essential Workers during the Containment Order
Behchokǫ̀, NT (September 9, 2021) – The Tłı̨chǫ Government will provide child care in Behchokǫ̀ for essential and critical service workers during the containment order in place for Behchokǫ̀.
This is NOT a regular daycare service, but one especially designed to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The Chief Public Health Officer has NOT CLOSED daycare centres, classifying them as essential services because of the invaluable role they play in caring for the children of critical staff during the COVID-19 pandemic.
If you are an essential services worker, you must be recommended for this service by your supervisor. It should also be noted, that this is a temporary arrangement for as long as “containment order” is in force in the community of Behchokǫ̀. All health and safety directives and guidelines from the Chief Public Health Officer and the WSCC are being followed to ensure a high level of cleanliness and protection in the centre for both children and staff.
However, the safest option for families is to have children remain at home.
