The Chiefs had a private meeting with Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau last night and discussed how the federal government can work with the Tlicho.  Specifically, they discussed the federal governments decision to eliminate the Wek’eezhii Land and Water Board which is a breach of the Tlicho Agreement.  It breaks a solemn promise that was made in the Agreement – that the Tlicho people would always have real say, and be equal decision-makers, with respect to any developments in Wek’eezhii, the heart of the Tlicho traditional territory.  They also discussed the history of the Tlicho Government as well as the Tlicho Financing Agreement.
