CEC meets with Minister of ECE to discuss new High School

Tłı̨chǫ Government - Chiefs Executive Council (CEC) invited the Minister of Education, Culture and Employment to Behchokǫ̀ on Tuesday January 14, 2020 to visit Chief Jimmy Bruneau High School. The meeting was also attended by Member of the Legislative Assembly for Monfwi, Jackson Lafferty, and representatives of the Tłı̨chǫ Community Services Agency.

 

The Chiefs asked for the meeting to discuss the upcoming need for a new school for the community. The Minister toured the school and the CEC provided a history for the new Minister on the development of the community of Edzo, and discussed the current condition of the school and options for future development. CEC spoke of the need for future public, parent and student consultations on the issue.

 

CEC looks forward to future discussions with the community, the Premier and all of Cabinet to make sure a new school is developed in a way that fulfills the vision of Chief Jimmy Bruneau, rooted in Tłı̨chǫ culture, language and way of life, and integrated into the social fabric of the community of Behchokǫ̀.
