Behchokǫ̀ - Part 2 Wilderness Safety Training Program

Client Services Department held a Wilderness Safety Training Program in Behchoko, NT from May 31, 2021 to June 14, 2021

34 applications were received, 15 individuals were selected to participate in the training for the Part 1

Part two: 7 individuals were available to participate in the training and the other 8 had return to work and find other jobs. 

Wilderness Safety Training Program was design and tailor to meet the need of Tłı̨chǫ citizens. Once completed the Wilderness Safety Training Program participants will receive the following certificates;

  • Health and Wellness
  • Maps, GPS and Navigation
  • Firearms License (Non-restricted PAL)
  • Chainsaw Safety
  • Advance Wilderness First Aid
  • SVOP (Commercial Boat License)
  • Restricted Operator Certificate
  • Bear Safety and Bear Guard
  • Paddle Canada Canoe
  • Swiftwater Rescue
  • Ice Rescue
  • Basic Skidoo maintenance
  • Wilderness trip preparations and on the land Emergency Scenarios
