Be Safe – "While travelling on the Land” and “Be Ice Smart”
Climate change is a major concern for the Tłı̨chǫ Government, and they will do everything in their power to create awareness and highlight safety issues that are associated with a changing climate.
From hearing news stories about people falling through the ice, and ways other communities are tackling climate change from a rural perspective, the Tłı̨chǫ people deserve the best available information to protect themselves, their families, and friends.
The Tłı̨chǫ Government’s Culture & Lands Protection Dept. have created a climate change safety pamphlet that highlights the importance of safety when travelling on the land. This pamphlet will be distributed to all the communities in the Tłı̨chǫ region.
We also plan to distribute another pamphlet, “Be Ice Smart”, which gives advice and information on ice thickness awareness. This pamphlet was created by the Lifesaving Society (www.lifesaving.org) in partnership with Mackenzie Recreation Association (www.mranwt.ca).
