August 22, 2021 will be the 100th anniversary of the day that Monfwi signed Treaty 11. To celebrate this anniversary, we are starting to plan community events and commemorative projects list below:
- 100th Anniversary community celebrations in Wekweètì, Whatì and Gamètì (June 2021)
- 100th Anniversary Arts Festival in Behchokǫ̀ (During or at the end of Annual Gathering August 2021)
- Installation of a commemorative monument in each community.
We are seeking input from our Tłı̨chǫ citizens. As one of the important events in the history of the Tłı̨chǫ people, what do you think should be the focus of the celebrations? We need your ideas for special activities and legacy projects, your design ideas for the monuments, and your participation as an artist, artisan, cultural specialist or performer, storyteller and musician.
